So my family (not just me & my kids, but aunts, uncles & cousins) have had a terrible cough for about a week & a half now. Today I started my turn. Since I have a trip in a few days I've been trying everything on my kids & today my oldest was better!!! Now if I can just get the rest of us cleared up. I am positive that I can now:-) my SIL took her kids to the DR & they said its a 10 day virus you have to let it pass. But for her 8 month old they gave her antibiotics hoping there might be something else that they can fight:-(
Me I'm sticking with the oils. I don't have 10 days to let it pass so I'm fighting very aggressively. Putting oils on at least every hour or when they start with a coughing fit.
This is what I come up with. If it is a virus helichrysum is a good antiviral oil. If its bacterial lemongrass is good, especially for kids because its not hot! I would usually use oregano but its harsh on babies skin.
I start by rubbing breathe, melaleuca & white fir on their chest & back. One at a time, I layer the oils.
Breathe: open airways, help stop coughing
Melaleuca: fights infection
White Fir: for the pain (not a hot oil)
Then I diffuse onguard & lemongrass in the air with my diffuser or a tissue on the back of a fan, Onguard & Lemongrass help kill airborne pathogens & we inhale it into our lungs.
Then I made a blend I've been rubbing on our chest, down our back, bottom of our feet & behind our ears. I filled a 10ml roller bottle half full with fractionated coconut oil then added the following blend until it was full (I think it was 4 times maybe 5)
3 drops Helichrysum
2 drops Melaleuca, Onguard, lemon, lavender & oregano
1 drop thyme
I believe this blend was the turning point for verdis.
Good luck to anyone suffering with this awful cough.

How to use oils.
It occurred to me that not everyone knows how to use essential oils. So I wanted to do a post on that, since I haven't had an update In forever!
So there are 3 ways to use doTERRA.
Topically, Aromatically & Internally
Topically: So the general rule is, "rub where it hurts!" If you have a headache you are not doing to rub peppermint on your elbow you need to get the oil where it needs to go. If its somewhere you can't rub use pressure points on your feet, hands or ears (charts can be googled, I'll try to post some here)
If you need an oil for an emotion (anxiety, depression, sleeplessness, ect) your best place to put it is behind your ear. The Vegas vein runs through there & helps get the oil to your pituitary gland.
Another good place is the bottom of the feet (faster absorption due to larger pores). Just put socks on afterward so you don't lose the benefits. Also wherever you rub it try to cause friction or heat to increase blood flow to that area.
Aromatically: diffusers are great and can be found through Doterra, aroma tools or even amazon and I'm sure they are sold at countless other places as well. If a diffuser is not an option, you can place a drop in the palm of your hand and cup your nose to breathe in the aroma. This also works great on a cotton ball. I have also placed a drop on a tissue paper & placed it either on my vents (so the furnace can put the scent in the air) or on the back of a fan. One other way I like to diffuse is with my vacuum. I put a few drops in the filter of my vacuum before I clean & it works wonders!
Internally: I sometimes will put the oils in an empty capsule & swallow them. This way you don't taste or smell the oils. You can also add drops to water and drink them. Put a few drops under your tongue, for really fast absorption. Or I also put a drop or 2 on the tip of my tongue & swallow over & over until I can't taste it anymore. This is typically not the best tasting but it soothes a sore throat the fastest.
I hope this is helpful!
I still love my oils! & I use them everyday!
I'm starting a weight loss journey today so i'll keep you posted on that. I have not bought my slim & sassy trim kit yet, but I think it will be essential to my weight loss & a healthier me. In the meantime I'm cutting out sugar and adding lots of water with citrus oils for detoxing & cleansing (lemon, wild orange, citriss bliss, grapefruit, bergamot or tangerine) I'm adding lots of fruits & vegetables! Wish me luck!

I won!
I feel fine. After I started feeling flu symptoms I rubbed my blend on the back of my neck & behind my ears. I did it at least 3x/ hour but if I started feeling it I just put more on. The next day (yesterday) I felt fine but I still tried to remember to put it on throughout the day. & I feel fine, except for all the smoke in the air from a "controlled" burn that is killing my lungs & drying out my nose & throat. At least it's nothing a little BREATH oil can't fix;-)

Mitomax2!!!
I cannot say enough about this product! I love it:-) so it helps me with my energy levels so much, I no longer drink caffeine! Now I know I haven't used it that long, but I'm a rockstar drinker, but not now!!! Funny story: my husband filled our weekly vitamins into a pill case. I was getting ready to go help in my sons kindergarten class so I took my vitamins, then took 2 mitax. I didn't know Anthony had already put some in my pill case! 5 hours later my face was hurting because I didn't stop smiling! Best part, no shaking or weird feelings like energy drinks can do if you have too much, just happiness exuberayting from me for hours. Since my mistake I've learned 1 in the morning & 1 in the afternoon is perfect:-)

Yummy!
Since I haven't posted in a while I thought it would be fine to post twice today. Today I promised my kids a treat but the stores are closed so I put a little milk (approx 1/2-1cup) with 3 drops of Doterra's CPTG Wild Orange oil. Then we added 2-3 scoops icecream blended together. The results, a yummy orange dream shake!!! We recommend it!
Convention = new products!
I was able to attend Doterras convention this past weekend at the salt palace in SLC UT. It was great! They had awesome speakers, informative classes & lots of new products! My kids love the new chewable vitamins, Anthony loves the In Tune Blend & I love the new DDR prime! We both also love the Mito Max energy vitamin. Added to out life long vitality vitamins they are helping a lot. I'm also very excited to start their slim & sassy trim shakes. I was able to sample the product at convention, & although this is not new, I've never tried it. I heard so many success stories of people who used the trim shakes that I'm excited to make my own! I love doterra. I want to share its benefits with everyone I know & everyone I don't know. I am so excited that was able to purchase all of the new products & I'll have them to show everyone at my class on Tuesday. I hope it is successful:-)

Ugh! Cold season.
So I had a raspy voice & for a whole day I tried to tell myself it was lack of water, but by day 2 I couldn't pretend anymore, I had a cold. It started out with a scratchy throat & raspy voice but then the congestion & coughing started. I stopped the sore throat almost immediately with melaleuca (tea tree oil) by putting a few drops on the tip of my tounge (yes, it's nasty tasting), I swallowed repeatedly until the taste was out of my mouth. A few hours later my throat started scratching again so I repeated the melaleuca treatment. After the 3rd treatment it had cleared up completely. The congestion on. The other hand has been a little more tricky. I like breathe blend for congestion, but I also love eucalyptus! I rub a few drops on my chest & cup the remainder over my mouth & nose & inhale deeply. Now that will clear some sinuses!!! it also relieved my coughs. & while all of this is going on I added onguard to my aggressive defense, instead of rubbing the immune boosting, onguard oil to my feet each night. I started rubbing it on every few hours, if I can remember, to give my body the boost it needs to help kick the cold. By day 4 I'm feeling much better:-) good luck to everyone else during this yucky time. Onguard everyday is the best thing you can do to keep the illnesses at bay, but when they attack, fight back fast & often & you will win!
I love using oils during times like these because you can't over dose. You can reapply as much & as often as you feel you need. If you do not need it your body will flush it.
* nursing moms: my baby started getting a runny nose so I rubbed a drop of eucalyptus on my breast near her nose so she could inhale the aroma while nursing. Cleared things right up. If it comes back, I just do it again!

Dr. Hills daily regimens!
Dr. Hill's Daily Routine
Dr. David Hill presented this simple routine using essential oils to improve every day for every one. It is a way to begin to daily experience and receive the immediate benefit of using doTERRA essential oils:
· Apply Peppermint and Frankincense to the soles of your feet when you awaken. This will get you fully awake, energized, and ready for your day.
· Diffuse Citrus Bliss or a blend of any of the other doTERRA citrus oils mixed with Purify or On Guard. This will lighten your mood and protect your home from unwanted pathogens.
· Apply Serenity to the back of your neck and temples midday to relieve stress. Also use anytime during the day if you are feeling stressed.
· Add Peppermint and Lemon to water during the day for gently detoxifying your body.
· Apply Lavender to bottom of your feet at night to encourage a full restful night of sleep or to alleviate insomnia.

Un"sticky" mess
I love My kids & they love gum, but my 2 year old is struggling with the chew & chew & chew concept. For a while he was swallowing it. Now he's graduated to playing with it. Just in the last 2 weeks I've found gum all over my sheets! I guess he fell asleep with gum in his mouth. & I've found it in my carpet :-( luckily for me I have Lemon essential oil. I put a few drops on the carpet mess, let it set for about 10 minutes & the gum came right up. With my sheets I put a few drops on the sticky mess before I washed them & they came out perfectly. I love my oils. Once again they've made my life easier:-) Using lemon to unstick my messes is so much easier then telling my 2 year old he can't have gum?

Can you say NEGLECTED!
Wow I really needed an update 2 weeks ago but I really slacked off, sorry about that. The purpose of my blog was to show everyday how I use my oils but I have no excuses as to why I haven't updated sooner. Today my favorite oil has been BREATH. All 3 kids have had the sneezes, runny noses & little coughs. Breath has helped make my life a little easier. I rub it on their chest, top of back & bottom of their feet. This has made less sneezing & snot & no coughing. I've had to reapply about every hour but I already feel like they're each on the mend. At least I hope so. I've been adding on guard to their feet before bed as well to help kick in their own immune systems help. Life is just a little easier with oils :-)

5 oils no home should be without?
Today I was asked, "What five oils would you say are the most important to have in your home?" My answer may not be the same as everyone else's but I would recommend: OnGuard, Melaleuca, Peppermint, Lavender & Lemon. I use these the most. I use them most days of my life for different things. You can use Onguard to boost immunity and to disinfect. I use Melaeuca for infections and clean cuts and scrapes. also used as a disinfecting cleaner. Peppermint you've read about a lot if you've read any of my posts. But I use it for sore muscles. to wake me up. for headaches. for cooling my body. and on and on and on. Lavender I use for soothing little aches and pains and also for helping my kids settle down before bed. And Lemon is put in my daily water for cleansing my body. I also use it for cleaning my house. Disinfects and makes my stainless steel shine. I also use it for waking up amongst other things. So if you're wanting to try oils. Start with these 5.
After Shave?
Yesterday Morning my husband shaved to find that he was out of after shave:-( He asked me what oil he could use becuase, like most men, he needs after shave. After some diliberating we decided on Melaleuca. It worked awesome. His skin felt great immediately and it still felt great today. It so nice to have oils.

Vomit, YUCK!
Okay so I have no idea where it came from, but my little guy wakes up from his nap that slept him right through dinner telling me his tummy hurt. So I assume he's Hungary and run off to get him some food. When I get back he's standing over the garbage can. So I feed him thinking that will help, but nope, 15 min. later he was back at the garbage can. So I ran to my oils, realizing it was more than I had thought. I rubbed Peppermint on his back and Ginger on his tummy. Every time he said he was feeling Pukey again, I would put peppermint in my hands and cup his mouth and nose so he could inhale the aroma. It took his nausea away. I finally got him to sleep and then it was my turn:-( As soon as I started feeling it I rubbed peppermint on the back of my neck and ginger on my tummy. I did this for a few hours and I finally felt well enough to sleep. Thanks again Oils. Although I would just rather not ever get sick. I love that I have oils in my home and I have the power to help myself and my family in times of illness. :-)

Purify
Sorry it's been a few days, I have no excuses, just my procrastination! I've been busy though. My baby boys have been running like crazy. Warm summer days + cousins to run & play with = chasing them with shoes! Unfortunately before I could catch them they both got slivers & a lot of them:-( I rubbed their feet with PURIFY before bed, covered with clean cotton socks & I was able to get most of them out the next morning. I am one for always going without my shoes, however I've learned through my oil journey that the reason you can rub all of the oils on your feet for fast effects is because the pores on the bottom of your feet are bigger & absorb faster. But it's not just oils its everything your feet touch, so I've been trying hard to be better about keeping shoes on. My kids have inherited my hate for shoes though & I feel like I'm chasing them with a pair for half the day. Thank goodness for purify this week. I needed it:-)

Sunburns :-(

So a quick update before I go on...I did make it to Zumba & I did dance. I re-applied peppermint before & after the class. I was a little sensitive all day, but today I feel great! MOVING ON I let my 5 year old play outside in our tiny plastic blowup pool in the yard yesterday & since it wasn't extremely hot I forgot to put sunscreen on him. His back was fried! Last night when I was getting him ready for bed I noticed what I had let happen :-( so I Covered the affected area with a water spritz with lavender and peppermint. 1 cup water with 10 drops of each oil, shook & spritzed. He looks much better today! These truly are my everyday oils! They help me make the ins & outs of everyday a little bit easier.

Zumba
So I did Zumba for the 1st time ever today, what a fun hour that was, but because I'm so out of shape it kicked my butt! My knees are terrible to begin with & I refuse to let my knee problem be the cause of my weight problem, but man my knees are sore! I rubbed peppermint on them & now they're feeling much much better! I'm hoping I'll be able to walk into class tomorrow, but with my oils I know I'll not only be able to walk in, but I'll dance my heart out! Thanks doTERRA for helping me better one more aspect of my life.
CONVENTION!
Because my class was such a huge success & I had such a great response from those who attended, I was able to enroll enough new IPC's that I qualified for a 5 hour training with Dr. Hill, along with new DoTERRA products! I am so excited. I get to go to convention & get some amazing training, tools & inspiration. I picked up all the oils for my new IPC's today. I'm getting trained on classes this week so I can be a very helpful upline for these amazingly excited people. We're already looking into scheduling 3 more classes! I love oils & I am so happy I get to share them with my friends, family & neighbors!

Success!
My class was a huge success! I had so much fun sharing a little bit about essential oils with my friends & neighbors. Now I embark on a new journey of growing my little knowledge into much much more so I can continue to help those around me care for their families safely effectively & naturally. I'm so excited, I can't sleep :-)

Falling asleep & waking up.
I didn't sleep very good last night. I'm hosting a class today on what an essential oil is & how you can transform your medicine cabinet with doTERRA oils. So my mind must have been on that. I was worried about getting my house clean & still having a productive day with my kids. Finally at 2:00 am I turned to my oils. I put Past Tense on the back of my neck & as much of my spine I could reach on my own. I put lavender on my neck & chest. I finally fell asleep! The last time I saw the clock was at 2:30 am. But then my alarm went off at 5:40 am so I could get my husband up & pack his lunch for work. I usually get him out the door & climb right back into bed, but not today. I decided to do a few things to prepare for this evening so I put some peppermint oil in the palm of my hand & cupped my mouth & nose while I inhaled for 30 seconds. Now I'm awake & not going back to sleep. I guess I better finish preparing for my class now, while I have the energy.
Getting started
Hi there! Lexi here. This is my first attempt at blogging so hopefully this will all work out. A little about me? I grew up in tiny town USA, married my high school sweetheart, very young, from a little bit bigger but still tiny, USA. & 10 years later we're still in love & we are still best friends. Nothing is more imPortant to me than my family. In the last 10 years our romance has grown into a family of 2 boys and a little girl. My husband works very hard full time so that I can be home with our kids. My goal is to one day finish school & have a career of my own, but for now, while my kids are small, I'm so blessed to be home with them everyday.
I was introduced to essential oils about 2 years ago & I couldnt help but wonder what kind of hippy, voodoo, witch doctor stuff was going on! But the first time I applied peppermint & lavender to a headache I was sold & started researching & learning more about these oils.
Now I am still learning everyday, but I use my oils consistently & I try to apply them to every situation as a first action rather than an afterthought.
My hope for this blog is to track my everyday uses of my doTERRA oils so I can share how these oils essentially enhance my everyday life. These oils truly are gifts from the earth & have a very rich history on their many uses ancientky & recently.
I love doTERRA & I hope I can share with you why.
